Classic cast gold inlay (+ current price of gold)

In case of extensive tooth decay, when only a little remains of the tooth, there is a danger that it is so weakened that it would break if it was treated only by filling it, we recommend to have an inlay made instead. The hardness of ceramic or gold is similar to the enamel’s, thus it reinforces the tooth and doesn’t let it break. Advantages of gold are that it has an anti-bacterial and antiseptic effect, this why the tooth gets decayed only very rarely underneath the inlay, plus the gold is malleable so it can be applied into the hole without any gaps, sealing the hole hermetically. The only disadvantage is its colour that obviously doesn’t match the colour of the teeth. However using golden inlay is still the best solution with the molar teeth. The inlays are made by a special procedure – in the first phase we prepare the hole and create an imprint what will be the base on what the technical laboratory creates the inlay itself. In the second phase the inlay gets glued into the prepared hole which was filled with a temporary filling as the inlay is created in about a week time.
